Multi-sensory dens and sensory rooms have been around since the 1970’s, when they were developed as a means to stimulate those with special needs in a controlled environment and allow those individuals to begin to cope with the sensory demands of the world around them.
Since the 1970’s, our understanding of learning difficulties has developed hugely, with experts now able to identify where on the spectrum an individual may sit and, more importantly, how to engage them in the optimum way for their own learning and development. There are over 700,000 people living with some degree of autism in the UK alone – a statistic which translates to more than 1 in 100 who are facing isolation if we can’t provide the right tailored support.
Enter the sensory tent – an innovation so effective that we are already receiving requests to build a parent-sized model.
Though conditions such as learning disabilities and autism cannot be cured, by providing the right mental and physical stimuli we are able to provide users with the best support possible in able to develop their creativity, personal drive and life skills.
63% of children on the autism spectrum are not in an optimum environment for them to thrive according to their parents, with more than 34% of these children saying they are afraid of being picked on at school. No matter what they love, the sensory tent allows you as a parent to establish the exact environment in which your child thrives, and then replicate this in the sensory den to encourage engagement and learning.
Here at PODS we understand the challenges you face, and are passionate about providing solutions to help you and your child embrace every day life rather than shy away from it. With the ability to create tailored spaces with different designs and sizes, we welcome any and all enquiries.
